Jump to It

Jump, jump, jump to it! Start your day on a positive note. There are two things you can do very quickly and then check them off your list of accomplishments for today. (1) Tell the Lord, 'good morning' and thank Him for LIFE on this day and (2) Find a mirror, look in it and smile. You are happy today because of the first thing you just did. This thing is not complicated. Make a CHOICE to appreciate and enjoy today.

Free to Lead

What do you automatically think of when you think about July 4th?  Fireworks...the sweet, yet smokey smell of a barbecue...fireworks...water parks and sun...fireworks! (Someone likes fireworks!!!)

Most people probably think about all it took for this country to be free.  So many lives were sacrificed just so we can enjoy the freedoms that we occasionally take for granted.

I challenge you to set aside some time today to think about one way you can change your life.  It doesn't have to be visible, tangible or explosive; it just has to be 'change.'  To change means to make or become different.  Make a new choice today about taking care of yourself.  Make a different decision about how you will respond to a negative situation.  Make up in your mind that July 4, 2014 is a day you will become something different than you were yesterday.  Become a better you.  Choose to be stretch yourself to plan to take the pottery class you've been longing to take.  Choose to write down one hairy, audacious goal to accomplish before December 31, 2014.  As you write it down, speak it and declare it.  Don't whisper it....say it loud!

This will be a day that you remember for the rest of your life.  This is your day to do something different.  Think it.  Write it.  Say it.  Do it.  Become it! Tell the person in the mirror that you're pulling him/her out of the pit today.  And when you pull them out, cover it and don't look back.

Declare your independence today!  You're free!

Pass Me the Measuring Cup

If you haven't taken the time to at least think about what you should be measuring, you can not fully understand the extent of your success or failure.

Baking cookies, a cake, or a loaf of bread require specific ingredients.  It's all laid out in the recipe.

As a leader, you own the recipe to your life.....to your business, ministry, marriage, college career, parenthood, etc.  You own it.  It belongs to you.  Even if you have to change the recipe up every now and then, it's okay.  Try new things and experiment until you get your desired result.  But above all things, make sure you measure.

How do you measure?  Begin by documenting the steps you take and consider the following:

Did this process work?  If so, what worked well about how I did this?  What could have been better?  Where do I see opportunity for improvement?

Don't overthink it.  Allow yourself to be creative.  Allow yourself to make mistakes.

You are not allowed to quit.
